  • Guns - Should they be banned in the US?

This is somewhat of a debate. I am for owning guns and believe it is a freedom everyone should have a right to...

However, I think that things need to change. Most gun owners use them properly and do not wish to cause harm but we have people who get their hands on them with the sole purpose of wanting to hurt others and that needs to change.

They should be banned and increased the police presence instead. In countries where gun ownership is limited but has fast police response, there are fewer crimes related to guns' misuse.

        What about the crooked police?

They should remain legal but be taken more seriously. Those who use guns to kill others often know little about how they work and often buy them on the black market so they are unregistered weapons. If you look at places like Washington DC and Chicago who have the strictest gun laws yet the highest counts of gun violence, we can see something isn't adding up here. Guns are not the problem, it is the people. I would much rather they invest in mental care facilities and having teachers be educated on what to look for in students who are more likely to react violently.

They shouldn't be banned. If they were to issue a nationwide ban, only police and criminals would have them. What about average joes like us? We would not be able to protect our homes or families and as shown time and time again, police can't be completely relied on for safety.

This is what really worried me the most when people started calling for it. A lot of people, good working people who are responsible with their guns will be left defenseless. I am not huge on guns but I still believe in the right to own one for means of protection if nothing else.

Banned? No not at all. They need to be better controlled and some laws need to change around them. Anything beyond a standard handgun should only be sold to people of an older age who have had a previous clean track record with a normal handgun. Make it like you do driving. Work people up to it. Give them a "temp license" and after 2 or 4 years, they can own something else.

I like the idea of working your way up through ownership. Like some 18 year old shouldn't be able to just go out and start a massive gun collection. Even if he/she is safe about it, they could have friends that aren't.

NO. They are highly regulated with the law abiding citizens. And they are the ones who get punished and thrown in the whirlpool...NOT the criminals who USE them as tools of trade we protect against with and also never going after HOW we can get and KEEP illegal/stolen/hot weapons out of circulation and the people out of public circulation. It's ALWAYS the "guns" fault. Because they pull their own trigger like knives cut themselves. It's an issue bc a group, person or org. makes it an issue for their own agenda. Chicago: How many have died in 2019 alredy? First 6 hours 4 dead dozens wounded. We know of... BUT, none of these strong big protesters or activists will dare bring that up, go after that situation or even bring it up. Too challenging and they are too scared to. Or any criminals. Yet, the entire reason is EXACTLY that. Seen a protest sign about THE CRIMINAL, CRIME? Nope, always the "gun" and "group" and whatever the flavor of the event is. The MSM is horrid. And the reason they go after "a white kid, in an upscale area, with the same weapon, (not a quite or concealable one) a weapon never found or crime scene as they demolish it, always chooses a school that somehow lets large rifle sized weaponry go unnoticed and get carried in fully loaded after getting to the school unnoticed, out the door, parents with no clue at home of them getting the thing ready or having it or anything missing, shoots and kills white people always missing other races, (ever seen a dead black student in these things?) no casings, no VIDEO, no proof, no evidence, the opening stories and info/news contradict and conflict each other, never make sense, always something fishy and just off about it all, goes away all the sudden and...LISTEN to what the KIDS and PARENTS say now first thing. "Gun control". Not "Get the camera out my face" sobbing and on the ground moaning in heart ache, or just NOT in front of the cameras, but smack dab in front, looking like their team just lost or someone made fun of them. And doesn't CNN have the QUICKEST mode of transportation? Cameras in every town, and always a pair of clothes for the proper occasion. Meanwhile, there is actually something similar happening elsewhere, yet we are never told. Because it wasn't set up for them and the shooter is always taken out by a gun. HOW ELSE can you come to a gun show? Point being is how the issue should not be one. The issue IS the illegal aspect and criminal aspect, and protecting citizens as they protect themselves. Their bullets are traced right to them. The "bad guys" just go hide and seek out another victim for: A REASON...A reason that needs to be addressed, taken care of, or eliminated in order for them to not have to or want to do it ever again. WHERE ARE THOSE MISSPELLED SIGNS!?

They will never be banned, they should be regulated, but never will be, beacuse First Amendment. Most people use them properly, but its a fact, another shooting will happen, its a lost cause, just hope to be not there.
US goverment should take care of mental health of the peole, the only wat to stop shootings.

They shouldn't be banned because a small percentage of people are morons and evil people. That is like saying free speech should be taken away because of some people using it to abuse others. It makes no damn sense to punish everyone. That old saying "don't let a rotten egg spoil the whole bunch" comes to mind.
