  • How many different religions are there?

I know there are top ones like Christianity where they have followers in almost every country in the world but what about the lesser-known ones?

Do we even know how many different religions there are in the world today?

Definition of the religion is open to debate, many just prefer to call them spiritual systems. There are organized ones, manufactured ones, evolved ones. There are belief systems not fully formal, some societies are just free styled. But, adopting coarse classification it is estimated that there are some 4,300 religions of the world today.

Here are some 20 largest religions and their estimated number of believers.

    1: Christianity (2.2 billion)

    2: Islam (1.5 billion)

    3: Nonreligious ( Secular/Agnostic/Atheist) (1.2 billion)

    4: Hinduism (1.1 billion )

    5: Buddhism ( 535 million)

    6: Chinese tradition religion ( 394 million)

    7: Primal indigenous (300 million)

    8: African tradition & diaspora (100 million)

    9: Sikhism (30 million)

    10: Juche (19 million)

    11: Spiritism (15 million)

    12: Judaism (14 million)

    13: Bahai (7 million)

    14: Jainism (4.2 million)

There are so many! Some of those 4,000+ must have only a few followers I would think.
I've looked at the origins and beliefs of some the ones I've never heard of, there's some crazy stuff out there!

Christianity beats Islam? I am honestly suprised by this. There seem to be far more Islamic folks than Christians, at least where I live. I don't know a single Christian.
